Therapy and Diagnostics

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia CBT-I

CBT-I for insomnia

If you've been lying awake for months — or years — you already know that sleep hygiene tips and warm baths don't cut it. You've probably tried them all. And you're still here, exhausted, wondering if this is just how life is now.

It doesn't have to be. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is the most effective long-term treatment for insomnia — recommended by the NHS and NICE above sleeping tablets. It works by addressing the thoughts and behaviours that are keeping your sleep stuck, rather than masking the symptoms.

Most people see real, lasting change within 3–6 sessions. Not just a few better nights — a genuine shift in the way you sleep.

Initial consultation         £75

Each follow up session  £50

CBTi on average takes 4 - 6 sessions

I offer both face to face and online appointments

Nightmare Therapy

Nightmare therapy for adults

Recurring nightmares can make you dread the night. You might find yourself staying up later and later just to delay the moment you have to close your eyes. The exhaustion compounds the anxiety, and the anxiety makes the nightmares worse.

Image Rehearsal Therapy (IRT) is a proven, non-invasive technique that helps you change the story of your nightmare — so your brain can let go of the fear and feel safe again. It's often effective within just a few sessions, and it doesn't require you to relive or process trauma in detail.

Children's Nightmare Therapy

Nightmares in Children

Nightmares can make bedtime frightening and exhausting for both children and parents.
Whether triggered by stress, change, illness, or past experiences, the impact on sleep and emotional wellbeing can be significant.

I now offer CBT-based Nightmare Treatment and Imagery Rescripting  Therapy for children and young people . Two gentle, evidence-based approaches that helps your child change the story of their nightmare so the brain can let go of fear and feel safe again.

This child-friendly, trauma-informed therapy is non-invasive and often effective within just a few sessions.

If nightmares are taking over your child’s sleep, calm and confident nights are possible again.

Sleep Screening Test

Obstructive Sleep Apnoea

You sleep for eight hours and wake up exhausted. Your partner says you snore — or worse, that you stop breathing. You have headaches in the morning. You fall asleep in the afternoon without meaning to. You've been told you're just tired, or that you need to lose weight. But something doesn't feel right.

WHAT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING — AND HOW I CAN HELP

Obstructive Sleep Apnoea is significantly underdiagnosed in the UK. It occurs when the muscles in the throat relax during sleep, causing the airway to narrow or close — interrupting breathing repeatedly throughout the night, sometimes hundreds of times. A home sleep test can identify the condition quickly and non-invasively. With 35 years of NHS sleep testing experience, I can perform and analyse your home sleep study and provide a full report for your GP.

Device is worn for two nights

Price includes 1 x 60 minutes consultation with home Sleep Test  full analysis and report      £240

These are posted out prior to the consultation for convenience and on line appointments are available

Support for CPAP use or CPAP with Insomnia

Struggling with CPAP? You're Not Alone – I'm Here to Help

Starting or maintaining CPAP therapy can be challenging, especially when NHS support feels limited or rushed. I offer personalised, one-to-one guidance to help you feel confident and comfortable with your treatment.

I’ll take the time to walk you through your CPAP machine, ensure your mask is the right fit, and address any concerns or difficulties you may have.

If you've developed insomnia while using CPAP, I can help you restore your sleep. My approach combines practical support with proven strategies to help you sleep soundly and wake feeling refreshed – all while continuing your essential therapy.

We will spend an hour reviewing your CPAP usage and the practical application of using your CPAP.

CPAP Success Programme

Menopause and Sleep

You used to sleep fine. Then the menopause started, and everything changed. Hot flushes waking you at 2am. Racing thoughts that won't stop. Lying there for hours, sweating, anxious, exhausted. And when you mention it to your GP, you're told to try to relax, or given a leaflet about sleep hygiene. You deserve better than that.

WHAT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING — AND HOW I CAN HELP

Sleep disturbance is one of the most common and debilitating symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. Hormonal fluctuations affect melatonin, cortisol, and body temperature regulation — all of which directly impact sleep architecture. CBT-I adapted for menopause addresses both the sleep disruption and the cognitive arousal that often accompanies it. I have specialist training from the Menopause Experts Group and have spoken nationally on sleep and menopause.

Circadian Rhythm Assessment

You've been told to just go to bed earlier. You've tried. It doesn't work. You lie there for hours, wide awake, while everyone else is asleep. Or you're falling asleep at your desk by 7pm and can't understand why. You've been called lazy, or a night owl, or told it's just a habit. It isn't.

WHAT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING — AND HOW I CAN HELP

Circadian rhythm disorders occur when the internal body clock is misaligned with the external environment. The most common is Delayed Sleep-Wake Phase Disorder — where a person cannot fall asleep until the early hours and struggles to wake at a conventional time. This has a genuine neurological basis and doesn't respond to willpower or sleep hygiene. A 14-day actigraphy study can objectively measure your circadian pattern, and a personalised chronotherapy programme can gradually shift your body clock.
