Hello, I’m Louise, a Sleep Scientist with over 30 years of experience helping people understand and overcome sleep difficulties. My career began within the NHS, where I worked as a Clinical Sleep Scientist, specialising in sleep diagnostics and the treatment of sleep disorders.
Over the years, I’ve supported thousands of individuals struggling with insomnia, sleep apnoea, and circadian rhythm disorders. I offer evidence-based care, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), recognised as the gold-standard treatment — as well as diagnostic testing for conditions such as Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and body clock (circadian) issues.
Beyond direct client work, I’ve also played a leading role in training and mentoring healthcare professionals across NHS hospitals and private wellness centres, always highlighting the central role of sleep in overall health and wellbeing.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple mission:
to help people uncover the root causes of their sleep struggles and guide them towards restful nights and brighter, healthier days.
My expertise in the field of insomnia treatments has been honed under the training of preeminent figures in sleep science and CBTi experts. This includes the esteemed Professor Jason Ellis, Director of the Northumbria Sleep Research Laboratory, and the distinguished Colin Espie, Professor of Sleep Medicine at Oxford University. Also Michael Perlis and Donn Poynser both high in the establishment and research of Insomnia and CBTi.
This service is available to anyone aged 10 and over.
My goal is not only to provide comprehensive sleep solutions but also to empower my clients with knowledge and understanding, working together, towards improved sleep health.
I can offer either face to face or online appointments to be accessible to everyone.
Menopause affects almost 50% of the population and yet most women remain uneducated in our society, although this is improving. I have completed training in all aspects of menopause and health. Taking my knowledge of sleep and combining it with my menopause training allows me to offer specific help from perimenopause through to post-menopausal symptoms.
Using a CPAP machine can feel overwhelming at first, and many people need more support than standard NHS clinics have time to provide. With over three decades of experience helping thousands of patients start and adjust to CPAP, I understand the challenges and frustrations that can arise. Sometimes it simply takes extra time, clear guidance, and a personalised approach to make the therapy work for you.
It’s also not unusual to experience insomnia alongside CPAP therapy, which can make it harder to use the device consistently and get the benefits you need. This is an area where I can give you dedicated help — combining my expertise in sleep science with practical, hands-on support.
I can work with you to build confidence in using your machine, resolve any difficulties, and make sure your mask fits comfortably. With the right support, CPAP doesn’t have to feel daunting. Together, we’ll get you back on track towards better sleep, better health, and better days.
It’s important for you to fully understand your diagnosis and be actively involved in your treatment options while feeling supported in all decisions made. I want to be there for you every step of the way through your diagnosis and therapy, with the aim of helping you improve your sleep. Quality sleep plays a crucial role in enhancing your overall quality of life, both physically and mentally.
I obtained my PGDIp in Sleep Medicine from Oxford University. This course covered neurophysiology and anatomy, sleep breathing disorders, parasomnias, circadian rhythms and hypersomnolence.
This course covered all the fundamentals of CBTi and the mechanisms and physiology around it. This was taught by Professor Jason Ellis, Professor of Sleep Science at Northumbria University and Director of the Northumbria Centre for Sleep Research
The Insomnia treatment - CBTi was a core component of the PGDiploma in Sleep Medicine that I studied. Here I studied under Professor Colin Espie who is Founding Director/ Clinical Director Experimental & Clinical Sleep Medicine Programme, Sleep & Circadian Neurosciences Institute, University of Oxford.
This is the next level of CBTi Taught by Professor Ellis but also the other greats in CBTi , Michael Perlis , Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania and Don Posner Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University School of Medicine. All three are giants in the world of CBTi
